37 lets Stimson Lumber Co. plans development on Iowa Hill

A letter from Gaston to the Forest Grove News Times about the poor effects of what Ballot Measure brought us in 2004.

"I have lived adjacent to Stimson Lumber’s tract of land on Iowa Hill for the past 13 years.
They have been very poor neighbors for that entire time. They have damaged their land many times, which has resulted in damaging my land and the lands of other neighbors in the area.

At one point they were ready to remove the water line that carries water to nine households below Iowa Hill. Their “projects” have all been carried out without the consideration of neighbors, wildlife, erosion, water supply, pollution or general impact on the land. Certainly their proposed plans for Iowa Hill would be no different. ..."

A perfect example of what happens when people / companies who wish to over develop farm land and forest land, with complete disreagard to limited groundwater land, decide to come in and build.

Ballot Measure 49 will stop large industrial development such as what is being done by the Stimson Lumber Co. 49 will also stop potential strip mining that 37 would allow.

Save our farm lands. Save our forest lands. Save our Limited Groundwater lands. Save Oregon from being over developed from big business as well as people who want to make their wealth on bringing in hundreds of subdivisions.

This isn't California. Vote Yes on 49.

Stimson Lumber did this without M37.

M49 will actually allow them to develop more. Furthermore, M49 will likely allow the neigbors the opportunity to develop large subdivisions in the next ten years.

M49 will allow for small developments further expanding infrastructure and utility lines. This will in turn justify more intensify development in the next planning cycle. It will likely be a natural place for a UGB expansion.

M49 causes sprawl and miniHalliburtons. How can you support it?

Support your claims. If you believe them so readily, support them. You prove it to me, I’ll retract my words on this post.

Support my claims. You said it yourself. Stimson Lumber operated in this way long before M37. Stimson landuse is a consistent exclusive timber use - duh!!!!

In fact protection Stimson Lumber's right to operate without concern for non-ag neigbors was the basis on which Tom McCall passed SB100 (which was hi-jacked by environmentalists and smartgrowthers).

What do you think exclusive farm or exclusive timber use is? Its industrial in natural but focused on natural resource extraction.

M49 will not alter Stimson's operation but its neighbors will develop their property.

Thats why I don't understand why liberals love M49 and hate M37 when they offer 80% of the same evil development (just with more litigation).

Houses require more utility development (basic requirements for houses is modern building code including fire and police access roads). This will then affect future plans as land use planners consider the most logical place for development to take place (alongside existing utilities).

M37 unammended will just change the short term plans of Oregon's planners. We might get one more Sunriver type resort out of the deal. Overall it will be way less of an issue other than planners won't have the same say beyond building code requirements.

I notice the lack of response.

Dealing with the congnitive dissonance of your lack of knowledge and unwillingness to admit your wrong coming into conflict with each other.

See, that is congnitive dissonance.

Stimson Lumber filed claims at both the state and county levels for a combined 169,303 acres. If they do not allow for the massive development, Stimson is demanding $269 million in compensation from Oregon taxpayers!

This is an important message to share. Check out this post and Digg It! Help us spread the message.

You are a liar Dare!pdx.

In 2004 Stimson Lumber Company gave $30,000 to get Measure 37 passed
so they can make a butt load of money.

Once Measure 37 passed, the company filed Measure 37 claims amounting to $269 million across the state. See Map.

Companies like Stimson will hold the state hostage in order to gain a profit at the expense of either tax dollars or the massive influx of subdivisions on prime forest land.

Here's a news article about the Stimson claims

Go back to your hole Dare!pdx. When you start to talk coherently, then you can come out with your mommy.
